The True Enemy
Kel Dor, young with tan coloured skin.
Khaal Phoorn was born on Dorin and as such was given his name in traditional style; a phonetic approximation of the atmospheric noises of Dorin. His parents named him after the quickening of a storm, for he was the first of either familial line to be born Force sensitive for many generations.
They proudly gave their child to the Jedi in the hopes that he may do his family proud, and lead a life that, when finally spent, had been in service of the greater good for the galaxy. Not that Khaal ever knew any of this.
From infancy he was raised in the central Jedi temple on Coruscant. He displayed a proficiency for the manifestation of ‘Force powers’ and was a particularly adept farseer. From the moment he understood the various roles that Jedi filled throughout the galaxy, he set his heart upon becoming an ambassador of peace and justice; a consular of the Jedi order.
It was years before Khaal became aware that he was not of the correct temperment to become a consular. He was much too opinionated in many cases and was more given to the dispensation of justice as he saw it, rather than attempting to see things from the view of other parties.
However, his shrewd Master, Zavolga (a rare example of a Hutt Jedi), had been preparing Khaal for a long span of time to realise his strengths on his own. When the day came that Khaal admitted to his Master that he no longer wished to become a consular, Zavolga was already prepared to guide him to what seemed a better fit; The Watchmen.
Khaal’s strong sense of justice and his zeal for law saw him assigned to a group of ‘mercenaries’ who were conducting operations in the early years of the Mandalorian War. For some time they had been affiliated with a Jedi named Resso Hynd, though Resso had met death on the ice world of Jebbil. Seeing an opportunity to place an idealistic and loyal servant of the council in this group, the Jedi sent Khaal to join the crew of the Glorious Slug.
